We are delighted to be shortlisted in five categories at the TechFest Awards 2026, the construction technology awards run by Construction News and New Civil Engineer. For a small team, being a finalist five times over is a remarkable result.

The five categories

  • Innovation Accelerator
  • Product Innovation of the Year, for Shell Element Designer
  • Technology Supplier of the Year, for Shell Element Designer
  • Software Innovation: Digital Workflows, for Shell Element Designer
  • Best Use of Technology: Design Efficiency, for our reinforcement design automation

What we entered

Our entries told the story of automated, transparent structural design: tens of thousands of wall and slab elements designed to code in minutes, with every step of the working available to checkers and regulators, and required reinforcement turned into buildable, optimised layouts. They drew on real production use. On a live UK nuclear new build, the software delivered 13 complete designs covering 71,266 elements and 6,728 load cases in under two hours of calculation.

On a separate project, a Class 1 new-nuclear design produced with the software passed independent technical assessment and secured ONR approval.

What happens next

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 25 November 2026. Thank you to everyone who has trusted Shell Element Designer on their projects so far. Wish us luck.
