Shell Element Designer 4.0 adds AFCEN RCC-CW

Version 4.0 adds the French nuclear civil works code, AFCEN RCC-CW (previously ETC-C), with flexural, shear and crack width modules and full validation calculations.

Shell Element Designer version 4.0

Shell Element Designer 4.0 adds a third family of design codes: AFCEN RCC-CW, the French rules for the design and construction of PWR nuclear civil works, previously known as ETC-C. With it, the software spans European, US and French nuclear design in one tool.

Three RCC-CW modules

  • ULS flexural design to RCC-CW.
  • ULS shear design to RCC-CW.
  • SLS crack widths to RCC-CW.

Each module produces the same outputs as the rest of the software: contour plots for every panel, the complete results data, and a step-by-step validation calculation for any element and load case you choose. Because switching code only means adjusting the input files, the same model can be designed to Eurocode 2, ACI and RCC-CW for a true element-by-element comparison.

Since 3.0

4.0 also brings together the improvements released in 3.1: a STAAD Bolt-On that creates the input files directly from STAAD models, the user and verification manuals moved to searchable help files, and batch runs that write their own log file. The ACI flexural validation output has been corrected and tidied as well.
